Lincolnton man injured in early-morning stabbing in Denver
One person was injured and another is in custody following an early mornings stabbing incident in Denver.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 hang up call at 7813 Morrell Lane, Denver Saturday around 4 a.m. and found a man lying in the front yard with a stab wound to the chest. The suspect in the case had fled the scene.
A K-9 unit was called out to track the man but did not locate him. Officers say the stabbing occurred during an altercation between two men in the front yard of the home and alcohol was involved. A female inside the residence said she heard a scream and saw the man lying on the ground in front of the house.
After officers cleared the scene around 7:30 a.m., the suspect returned to the Morrell Lane address around 8:06 a.m.. Deputies went back to the residence and took him into custody.
The victim is identified as Jeffery Ryan Bullard, 23, of 2484 Shuford Road in Lincolnton. He was transported to CMC-Charlotte with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect is Donald Joe Fortenberry, 22, Bynum Road , Lincolnton. He is charged with assault with a deadly weapon witht the intent to kill, inflicting serious injury and is being held under a $50,000 bond. Fortenbery has a lengthy arrest record.
