Man airlifted to Charlotte after wreck on Hwy. 16

Highway 16 near the Catawba County line was shut down for about an hour Sunday night after a single-vehicle wreck sent one man to the hospital with serious injuries.

Denver Fire Department and Lincoln County EMS were dispatched to the 4700 Block of N. Highway 16 for a reported motor vehicle crash in which a subject reportedly had been ejected from his vehicle.

When units arrived they found the accident victim lying outside his truck which had sustained heavy damage after hitting a treet.

A helicopter already was enroute from Carolinas Medical Center in, and the victim was prepared for transport. A landing zone was set up in front of Denver Fire Department’s headquarters fire station, and the victim was airlifted to Charlotte.

No additional information is available at this time.
