19 suspected street-level drug dealers rounded up in Lincoln County; cops searching for more

Deputies and federal officers are out in full force this morning in Lincoln County working to round up some of the area’s biggest street level drug dealers.

About 30 officers started this morning looking for 38 suspects identified in true bills of indictment handed down by a Lincoln County Grand Jury.  Officers hit the streets after a 5 a.m. briefing at the Lincoln County EMS.

The undercover operation began in the summer of 2011 and ran through January of 2012 by narcotics investigators with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.  Most of the suspects were targeted and infiltrated based on tips received on the tip line from the community.

“The more roundups our agency conducts the harder it will be for law enforcement to identify possible drug dealers.  Therefore the community can help us and help themselves by paying attention in their neighborhoods and notifying us of possible drug information.  No tip is too large or too small,” said narcotics Lt. Jason Reid.

Five U.S. Marshals area assisting with locating out of county suspects while Lincoln County deputies will work inside the county.  Narcotics investigators say the suspects were dealing everything from prescription drugs to marijuana, cocaine, and heroin.

“Our team is continuing to make positive progress in combating the manufacture and sale of illicit drugs in our county by the proactive relationship with every agency in our region and we will continue to see the fruits of this hard work in the months to come,” said Sheriff David Carpenter.

The Tip Line number is 704-736-8422 and officers will follow up on all tips received.  You can also call Crime Stoppers at 704-736-8909.  You do not have to leave your name and if your Crime Stoppers tip leads to an arrest you could receive a reward of up to $1,000.
