Dr. George Lester Darrow, 58 of Denver, died Thursday, June 7, 2012.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, June 13 at Vesuvius Vineyards in Iron Station. The family received friends at a reception following the service.
Dr. Darrow was born October 19, 1953 in Birmingham, AL.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Henry Darrow. He was a father first, and a friend to many. He had a gift for helping those in need, and dedicated his life to emergency medicine at CMC-Lincoln. He was a writer and reader, a lover of the open road, back porches and the great outdoors. He leaves a legacy of compassion and hope for the underdog.
Survivors include his three daughters; Hannah McAlister Darrow, Hilary Burk Darrow and Sarah Frances Darrow all of Charlotte; his mother, Carolyn Dykes Darrow of Statesville; three brothers, John David Darrow, James Daniel Darrow and Peter Nathaniel Darrow all of North Hampton, New Brunswick Canada; and sister, Saralee D. Trimble of San Antonio, TX.
Warlick Funeral Home is serving the Darrow family.
Cheryl Marie Keeler
Cheryl Marie Keeler, 67, of Denver, passed away on Thursday morning, June 7, 2012 at her residence surrounded by family. Born on December 8, 1944 in Ithaca, NY, she was the daughter of the late Orlo and Marjorie Coburn Mente.
Besides her parents, Cheryl was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Hults and brother, James Mente.
Cheryl is survived by her husband, Michael L. Keeler; children Christine Marie Leary, Kathleen Marie Norton, Stephen Eric Jenkins and Scott Andrew Jenkins; stepchildren Tracey Keeler, Christopher Keeler and Marc Keeler, 13 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sister, Bette Tuttle and brothers Mike Mente and William Mente.
The family held a private visitation at The Good Samaritan Funeral Home in Denver. Cheryl will be buried in New York
