Mark your calendars now for fun-filled Fourth of July festivities

East Lincoln Fireworks
The Denver Area Business Association will once again host the annual Fireworks Festival – the 12th annual.  This year’s event is scheduled for Saturday, June 30 at the East Lincoln High School football stadium.
The festival begins at 5 p.m. Fireworks begins about 9:30 p.m.
The evening begins with a Battle of the Bands at 5:30 p.m.  There will also be a raffle with the prize of a flat screen TV, and lots of vendors will be on site.
You are invited to the free event, billed as  “one of the better pyrotechnic events of the summer.”

Lincolnton Celebration
Downtown Lincolnton will be the site of the Annual July 4th celebration on Wednesday, July 4.  This event starts at 6 p.m. with games and activities.  There is a parade at 8 p.m.  The festivities conclude with a memorial ceremony at 9:15 p.m. and the fireworks display at 9:35 p.m.  The fireworks are at the Lincolnton High School in the stadium.  This is also a free event.

Westport Parade
And speaking of parades, the Annual Westport Fourth of July Parade has become a local favorite.  The parade begins on July 4 at 10 a.m.  Registration for parade entries begins at 9 a.m. at Fairfield United Methodist Church.  This parade follows the route from Fairfield UMC down Fairfield Forest Road to St. Peter by-the-Lake Episcopal Church where the awards ceremony will take place.
Up for grabs are prizes for Best Decorated Tricycle (up to age 6); Best Decorated Bicycle (ages 7-13); Best Pulled Wagon, Wheelbarrow, etc.; Best Lawnmower, golf cart, ATV, etc.; Best Decorated Skater or Skateboarder; Best Costume (boy and girl to age 13); Best Decorated Mailbox and Residence (on the parade route); Best Decorated Automobile; Best Decorated Pet; and Best Float.   Veterans will also be honored in the parade and at the ceremony.  If you or a loved one is a vet, please call Connie at 704-489-6099.
Free treats will be available at the Awards Ceremony.  Decorate yourself and your vehicle and join the fun.  There will also be a giant slide and a jumpy house for the little kids at St. Peter.
