Detectives investigating vandalism at Rock Springs Campground
Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies and detectives are investigating vandalism that was discovered at Rock Springs Campground Tuesday afternoon.
Deputies responded to the campground after the owner of Tent #254 found that the door had been kicked in and someone had made entry into the structure. A white stool had been removed from the tent along with two fold up chairs and five steak knives.
While officers were checking that break-in Patrol Sgt. Larry Ingle checked around the campground for other break-ins and discovered around 12 or 13 tents had been broken into. Nothing had been stolen from the other tents but detective Mark Stamey reported that vulgarities had been spray-painted on the inside of one tent with black paint.
In another tent paint had been poured on the dirt floor.
Investigation into the incidents is continuing and anyone with information about the vandalism is asked to contact the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at 704-732-9050 or call Crime Stoppers at 704-736-8909. If your Crime Stoppers tip leads to an arrest you could receive a reward of up to $1,000.
